Who We Are:

We want to be like Jesus
The foundation of our Youth Ministry is Christ-centered teaching and worship. We meet together weekly to honestly confront the areas of our lives that need more of the light of Christ in them.

We want to be invested in what our church is doing
Our students serve.  We aren’t just a segregated, age-specific ministry of the church. We are the church. Our students are encouraged to find places to serve and be a vital part of the mission of the church. Opportunities include: volunteering with the children’s ministry; serving in the orchestra, choir, and praise team; assisting with audio and visual portions of the services; helping as ushers and serving communion; and many more!

We want to exemplify what it means to be the Body of Christ
We all mess up, we all make mistakes, but we’re all on this journey together. We are not alone. Our students are learning what it means to follow the teaching of Hebrews 10:24 – “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.”

We want to be Disciples and Disciple-makers
Our students want to do more than go through the youth ministry without leaving a mark! Our students are encouraged to leave a legacy of leadership and assisting to raise up new leaders, to invest in the lives of younger students.

What We Do:

Wednesday Night Worship
Our Wednesday night worship service is our main weekly get-together.We have meal time, free time, music, teaching, and small group discussion/prayer time.

Sunday School
Once a week we have Sunday School prior to the morning worship service. We currently have three classes: 7th and 8th grade, 9th – 11th grade, and our seniors attend the College class.  All classes are discussion based, but are large enough to blend into if you aren’t feeling chatty.

Our Teen Quizzing team meets for practice every Sunday from 4pm to 6pm. Our team is large and very active. We usually have two quizzes per month from September through April.

Open Gym
Every Monday, our teens have open gym. Games include basketball, volleyball, and volleysquare.

Radiation is the name of our monthly teen activity. It can be a variety of events, from a game night in the gym to a photo scavenger hunt to a concert. We try to keep it fresh and unique.

Teen Camp
Every June, we have a five day camp in Scottsville, TX at the Dallas District campground. It’s a fun filled week with paintball, swimming, boating, sports tournaments, amazing worship, and thought provoking speakers.

Winter Retreat
Our youth ministry likes to take a two night retreat not long after the New Year. It’s an opportunity to unplug from the craziness of the holidays and spend some quality time with Jesus.  Venues vary from year to year.

7th Grade Plunge

Transitioning from the children’s ministry to the youth ministry can be a little traumatic. New 7th graders can be intimidated by the sudden change in environment and by trying to fit into a close-knit community. Our way to combat this is to take them on a weekend trip with the Youth Pastor, the Children’s Pastor, and a selection of leaders from the youth group. It gives them the chance to get to know the Youth Pastor, make new friends, and have one last hurrah with the Children’s Pastor.

Back to School Bash
Just before school starts up again in the fall, we like to have a party. One last care-free get-together before school-work and sports ramp up again.  It’s a pool party with inflatables and lots and lots of food.

Autumn Awesomeness
Autumn Awesomeness is our fall festival at a local campground. It’s a fun day of zip-lining, archery, gaga ball, rock climbing, and more!
